4 Things you are Doing Wrong on Facebook, if you are using it to Attract Business!

I’ve been noticing some things on Facebook and because I know that a lot of my followers are using Facebook to attract business, I thought I’d share my observations with you!  These are the things you are doing WRONG if you are using Facebook to attract business!

99.9% of my business comes through social media, mainly Facebook, but also Instagram.

Last year, I invested a lot of time and money into understanding these platforms better, so that I could better coach my clients.  I work very specifically with helping Mission-Driven Entrepreneurs to leverage their personal story to generate more income and impact, and social media is a great vehicle for connecting your story to those who would benefit from hearing it.

Are you doing these following wrongs and in turn, unknowingly affecting how you are attracting your ideal client to your content?

The most important thing to know about using social media is that it is an Algorithm, so it’s just like doing maths!  You have to think about social media like working the numbers to your benefit.  The Algorithm is based on engagement (clue was in the “social” media) and so Facebook and Instagram are looking for you to engage and for people to engage with you.  If the Algorithm doesn’t see these things, it is not going to see you as a great user of the platform and in turn, not show your content to people.

For example, on Instagram, for the first 5 minutes that you post your content Instagram will show it to as many people as possible.  After 5 minutes the reach of your post will depend on how many people have engaged in it.  If nobody engages in the first 5 minutes, the reach drops off. So get as many likes and comments in the first 5 minutes as you can and you are sweet!

On Facebook it’s slightly different in terms of how your post gets shown, but the principle of engagement is the same.  So the first thing you may be doing wrong is just jumping onto Facebook and posting your content without pre-engaging first!  In order for your post to be shown to as many people as possible, pre-engage for 5 minutes and post-engage for 5 minutes too.

Try this out for yourself to see how it works.  Have a look at the average engagement in your posts then compare to when you pre-engage.  You might specifically notice that the people that you engaged with straight away like your post, jump on your live or like a previous piece of your content!  You are showing the Facebook Algorithm that you are ‘a person of interest’.

You might be engaging already, but your comments may be superficial.

You may have heard about the rule to pre-engage and are dropping little comments like, “nice hair!”  What I have noticed is that meaningful comments work much better.  If you are looking to build relationships with people, really sell through your comments who you are and how you can help people.  Answer their questions, solve their problems, give them advice.  Don’t sell to them in a comment, but help them to see who you are and how you can help them.  People will always be thinking as you engage with them on Facebook, “who is this person and why should I listen to them?“, so meaningful comments are a great way for people to get to know you.

Be strategic about how you engage though (talk to me about an effective ‘DMO’ Method of Operation)  If you are using Facebook for business, it should be a good use of your time.   I have learnt from the best; Ray Higdon.  He helped me to set an hour and know how to fill it effectively.

The next thing I have observed is people ‘talking to the masses’ in their videos.  Media Guru Hank Norman taught me that we should always address one person in our videos, the person who needs to hear the message you are sharing.  Start your video with, “Hey you!“, not “you guys” and then speak directly to their problem.

Another thing I am seeing (and hating) is the cookie cutter crap strewn all over my Facebook newsfeed.

People sharing the same posts, asking the same question and using the same style of posting.  What about your style?  What about what you stand up for?  Who are you?  How are you using social media to make a bond with people and use it as a vehicle to share your message? To share your mission!  To make people feel intimately involved with what you have and what you do and how you can help them.  It is powerful to use social media to stand out.  And this means going against the grain and saying things that some people might not want to hear.

Ask powerful questions, say meaningful things and share really vulnerable stories that help your audience to understand that you’ve been where they are and you have a path forward for them to take to get to where they want to be.

The final thing is another Ray Higdon tip.  He taught me to always aim to take conversations off the Facebook feed to Messenger because that is where you can really talk to somebody and establish if/how you can help them.  It is where somebody will open up more to you about where they are really at.

What I do in my signature u_UNLEASHED coaching programme is help you really understand how you help people; that one specific result that working with you creates.  Then we create a free tool that really shows the person on the other side of the conversation your value.  Every conversation should be a value exchange.

I hope these tips have been helpful.

Until you spread your wings you will have no idea how far you can fly…

If you always focus on just getting by, you’ll only ever get by!

If you take a leap of faith, trust in yourself and your higher power, you’ll be surprised what happens next!

9 years ago I was sat in my house with the curtains closed staring at the fireplace. I’d been trying to pluck up the courage all day to go out, but my anxiety didn’t let me. I’d had a big argument with my brother a few days before and he’d slammed me in between the wall and his door breaking my toe. I was fighting a court battle with my ex-employers, we were short of money and it felt like everything was too hard.

There in that moment I made the decision to move to New Zealand.

I knew Craig would be on board because we’d talked about it for ages, but it had to happen now. I couldn’t see any other way forward.

My best friends pretended they were excited for me, but I could see they were devastated. Telling mum and dad was one of the hardest things I’ve ever done and they were heartbroken too

Now I know that move was the best thing I could have ever done, but as I walked through the airport gates into the Auckland arrivals terminal and listened to the Native Birdsong sing out through the speakers I wasn’t sure I’d made the right choice at all.

Those first few years were hard. I continued to fight my court battle across the miles, which I ultimately lost, but over time my anxiety was improving and I got back into full time work.

Then it hit me. What the fuck! That same feeling of something being massively out of alignment, like having a wonky disc in your back and trying to walk anyway. I felt the discomfort! And I think I felt it every day since, albeit got less, until last year when I took another leap of faith and did something else completely out the box.

This time the thing was more outside of my comfort zone than moving countries…
And it had a shed load more risks than benefits that I could see through the struggle we were still in. I applied for the Reality Show, Play to Win!!!

I put thousands of dollars of flights on a credit card on a gut feeling that the tiny chance of winning the show was worth the massive risks and sacrifices to my family. And I lost!

But thankfully, the result was that I changed so much and I learned so much from the experience that it was one of the best decisions I ever made. For none of the reasons I thought it would help me, but for all of the reasons I needed help, that I couldn’t see myself.

Are you seeing the pattern here…?

Life is on the other side of everything you fear…

And often our fears are to do with money. Or moreover the fear of losing it, not making it back if we invest in something and we don’t see how investment in ourselves will pay off. We feel more comfortable investing in marketing courses, more education and learning, but do those things really transform our struggle? Not in my experience…

So here we come up to the real ball breaker in the story…

In November last year, with Craig freshly unemployed, I committed to a coaching program that I had no vehicle to pay for, apart from my own success. This was my biggest leap of faith yet. And the faith was in me.

You see, in 2016, I’d launched my own location independent coaching business on the feeling that this was exactly what I was supposed to be doing in the world.

But it had failed.

My Network Marketing business was propping it up. I’d gradually began to work with beautiful clients, yes, and they had amazing successes, yes, but it wasn’t translating into the income I wanted and I was frustrated. And with Craig now out of work, I had two choices. Chase the dream of who I truly want to become or give the fuck up!

And so I took a chunk of money from Craig’s redundancy and I put a deposit down on a coaching programme that cost more money than we even owned.

And the decision paid off.

3 months on, Craig is chasing his dreams instead of going back to a job he hates and my business is funding it.

You see, the moment you take your focus off your struggle and get out of your head and into your heart where your truth flies high, the struggle you fear is less likely to eventuate…

How much of your life are you willing to commit to STRUGGLE because of more decisions that are guided by everything you FEAR?

A couple of weeks ago, I welcomed 3 new clients to my Coaching Programme, u_UNLEASHED that really compelled me to write this post.

They represent everything I believe about what is possible when you let go of fear long enough to see what you truly want and commit to doing whatever it takes to end the struggle for good. And they are already seeing a return on their investment.

But each of the 3 almost said no. They almost turned the coaching down for fear they wouldn’t be able to pay for it. And I’m so happy they turned their fear into the fire that will make their dreams realise!

Especially because each of the 3 wants to impact others. And income is a magnifier… It allows us to do more, be more, create more!

So…

Will you take a leap of faith?

How to Biohack your Emotional Responses

This morning I woke up feeling stressed and overwhelmed.

Then somebody I have coached in the past gave me a wake-up call!

He said, “Don’t bend to your circumstances.  Change them.”

Control is our Superpower.  I used to use control in the wrong way.  Trying to control my circumstances and rigidly control how I went about things (strategies and lists for days.)  This was part of my SURVIVAL MODE, not freedom from it, because I was so trapped by everything I feared.  Now I use control the right way.  I control how I show up, the decisions I make and the way I choose to decode my emotional responses programmed by emotional memories.

I now help others to increase their brain’s feelings of happiness through Biohacking these emotional memories, so that you feel good, begin to heal from past trauma and create a daily rhythm that makes you a superhuman charged magnet for a abundance.

I created a Free Resource within my Mynddojo to help you, but HOW do the simple tools in there do that?

Here is an example.

Yesterday I did an Emotional Trauma Healing Session with a Client where I helped her to consciously recognize the emotions at play, born out of her trauma, which are causing her so much pain and suffering in the present.  These feelings have caused her to suffer debilitating anxiety attacks for years.  However, bringing consciousness to an autonomic system like the nervous system lessens their impact.

This is the essence of Biohacking.  Bringing control to the things that we feel we have no control over.  Using science to live better and have more success.  Control is your Superpower…

In this case we are specifically biohacking emotional trauma and this is essential because we cannot suppress negative emotional experiences, like we try to do when we go through something horrific.  The limbic part of our brain becomes hyper-aroused to our emotional memories, which has unwanted effects like anxiety and depression and guides our motivation and behaviour.  It should be the other way around.  Our habits should be guiding our motivation and behaviour.  Our results do literally reflect our mindset.

The key to overcoming trauma is to calm the amygdala, part of the old limbic system of our brain, where our emotions are given meaning, remembered and attached to associations and responses to them, by activating the prefrontal cortex.  Most of our memories leave no trace in the brain, but trauma physically rewires it.  (And don’t stereotype Trauma here.  Experiences may seem subtle that have significant effects on the nervous system.  And from every experience, we take meaning.)

The prefrontal cortex combines two frontal lobes that are newer and larger areas at the front of the brain. They’re part of the cerebral cortex, which is a rational and more advanced brain system.  This is where thinking, reasoning, decision-making and planning happen.

The frontal lobes allow you to process and think about your emotions.  You can then manage these emotions and determine a logical response.  The frontal lobe response is not automatic.  It can be consciously controlled by you.

So, how do we do this?

– Setting Intention and Goals

– Practising gratitude

– Changing our focus

– Experiencing more joy

– Giving the brain new information or challenging it with questions that create new information, rather than replaying the stories that keep your trauma “on the tracks”

– Connecting and neutralising the emotions that are keeping you stuck

Thanks to Neuroplasticity (the brain’s ability to adapt and change with new experiences) we are literally rewiring our brain, physically with these new habits that activate a new emotional response that calms our amygdala and enables you to experience the vulnerability of everything you fear.

If this stuff FIRES YOU UP and you only want to master more of these Superhuman Secrets to your Success, I am holding a Free Masterclass on the 26th February and I would LOVE you to be there.  It’s simple to sign up… Just click here and I will mail you details to join me.
