The Powerful Skill of Letting Go

The other day I posted on my Facebook page a graphic that got a lot of engagement.  It said, “Let Go of the Shit that Suffocates your Soul”.  Does that resonate?

It definitely did with me.  I have done a lot of letting go in the last year and I still have shit to let go, but I am in such a different place to where I was just a little over a year ago.

I was in constant struggle.  I’d started my own business just before my second daughter was born after losing my job out of the blue and all of my maternity leave.  At the time I thought this was a terrible thing simply because of the financial strain it would put us under, but at the same time there was a freedom in knowing I wouldn’t have to go back to work after a few months and would be able to be a mum to my new baby.  However, 2.5 years in I just could not get my business earning money.  Everything was difficult and the juggle between it and both my girls was making me feel like a failure because neither thing had my full attention.  And we were sinking financially.  At my lowest point I had to rock up with my children to the food bank and ask for some food to cover us until my husband’s pay day after the weekend.  There was nothing left, we were overdrawn, with credit cards and a stack of other growing debt.  My heart broke as I watched my girls tear into the box of cornflakes we were handed as the lady gathered other stuff for our box.  They were hungry and I hadn’t even realised it through my stress.  I felt broken.  It was at that lowest point I began my journey back to myself.

I found my calling.  Or moreover, I felt drawn back to the coaching practice I had trained in, but never had the confidence to fully launch because I didn’t know what my message was.  Now I know.  I know that every single piece of my past was part of my story and my gift to others and my greatest power in creating the future that I want.   I started to learn.  Like no other course I’d ever done.  This was the experience of life and personal development delivered by those who already had what I want and one of the best skills one of these mentors ever taught me was the “Power of Letting Go”.

Have you ever tried something that you think is the right thing to do, but it just feels hard?  Like a work a task, for example.  You’ve strategized it, it went on the crucial to do list and you tell yourself it’s important, but however hard you try you just can’t get it done?  Let it go.  The most efficient way in my business right now to get stuff done is to let the stuff go that feels like a struggle.  At first that felt like a cop out, like I was being lazy, but I forced myself to write the thing down and then move on.  I’d get my head into my personal development instead and I found through experience that the struggle was a sign from the universe that there was something I needed to learn that I hadn’t learned yet, or personal experience I didn’t have that I needed to have.  That is why my coaching had never taken off.  I hadn’t learned what I needed to; so much more than just methods and tools.

If it’s really important and the right path, whatever you write down will come back to you with inspiration to get it done with ease.  Try it!  I love it.  I get to glide over my to do list and rather than be pinned to it, be guided by my intuition and simultaneously and perpetually grow.  Growth doesn’t equal struggle.  If we want to manifest everything we want in our life, struggle and need must be eliminated and this can only happen if what we do is in alignment with our soul.  And to be sure of that we need to really know ourselves and what we want!  Our soul is us at our most pure and the universe has our back.
