4 Things you are Doing Wrong on Facebook, if you are using it to Attract Business!

I’ve been noticing some things on Facebook and because I know that a lot of my followers are using Facebook to attract business, I thought I’d share my observations with you!  These are the things you are doing WRONG if you are using Facebook to attract business!

99.9% of my business comes through social media, mainly Facebook, but also Instagram.

Last year, I invested a lot of time and money into understanding these platforms better, so that I could better coach my clients.  I work very specifically with helping Mission-Driven Entrepreneurs to leverage their personal story to generate more income and impact, and social media is a great vehicle for connecting your story to those who would benefit from hearing it.

Are you doing these following wrongs and in turn, unknowingly affecting how you are attracting your ideal client to your content?

The most important thing to know about using social media is that it is an Algorithm, so it’s just like doing maths!  You have to think about social media like working the numbers to your benefit.  The Algorithm is based on engagement (clue was in the “social” media) and so Facebook and Instagram are looking for you to engage and for people to engage with you.  If the Algorithm doesn’t see these things, it is not going to see you as a great user of the platform and in turn, not show your content to people.

For example, on Instagram, for the first 5 minutes that you post your content Instagram will show it to as many people as possible.  After 5 minutes the reach of your post will depend on how many people have engaged in it.  If nobody engages in the first 5 minutes, the reach drops off. So get as many likes and comments in the first 5 minutes as you can and you are sweet!

On Facebook it’s slightly different in terms of how your post gets shown, but the principle of engagement is the same.  So the first thing you may be doing wrong is just jumping onto Facebook and posting your content without pre-engaging first!  In order for your post to be shown to as many people as possible, pre-engage for 5 minutes and post-engage for 5 minutes too.

Try this out for yourself to see how it works.  Have a look at the average engagement in your posts then compare to when you pre-engage.  You might specifically notice that the people that you engaged with straight away like your post, jump on your live or like a previous piece of your content!  You are showing the Facebook Algorithm that you are ‘a person of interest’.

You might be engaging already, but your comments may be superficial.

You may have heard about the rule to pre-engage and are dropping little comments like, “nice hair!”  What I have noticed is that meaningful comments work much better.  If you are looking to build relationships with people, really sell through your comments who you are and how you can help people.  Answer their questions, solve their problems, give them advice.  Don’t sell to them in a comment, but help them to see who you are and how you can help them.  People will always be thinking as you engage with them on Facebook, “who is this person and why should I listen to them?“, so meaningful comments are a great way for people to get to know you.

Be strategic about how you engage though (talk to me about an effective ‘DMO’ Method of Operation)  If you are using Facebook for business, it should be a good use of your time.   I have learnt from the best; Ray Higdon.  He helped me to set an hour and know how to fill it effectively.

The next thing I have observed is people ‘talking to the masses’ in their videos.  Media Guru Hank Norman taught me that we should always address one person in our videos, the person who needs to hear the message you are sharing.  Start your video with, “Hey you!“, not “you guys” and then speak directly to their problem.

Another thing I am seeing (and hating) is the cookie cutter crap strewn all over my Facebook newsfeed.

People sharing the same posts, asking the same question and using the same style of posting.  What about your style?  What about what you stand up for?  Who are you?  How are you using social media to make a bond with people and use it as a vehicle to share your message? To share your mission!  To make people feel intimately involved with what you have and what you do and how you can help them.  It is powerful to use social media to stand out.  And this means going against the grain and saying things that some people might not want to hear.

Ask powerful questions, say meaningful things and share really vulnerable stories that help your audience to understand that you’ve been where they are and you have a path forward for them to take to get to where they want to be.

The final thing is another Ray Higdon tip.  He taught me to always aim to take conversations off the Facebook feed to Messenger because that is where you can really talk to somebody and establish if/how you can help them.  It is where somebody will open up more to you about where they are really at.

What I do in my signature u_UNLEASHED coaching programme is help you really understand how you help people; that one specific result that working with you creates.  Then we create a free tool that really shows the person on the other side of the conversation your value.  Every conversation should be a value exchange.

What has been your biggest learning this year?

I was talking to somebody yesterday who completed one of my market research surveys and I shared with her that when I didn’t win the Reality Show I took part in earlier this year, I had a moment where I was like “I’m done!”

I could see no other way forward without somebody giving me the coaching I felt I needed to take my own coaching business to the next level for free because I felt I “couldn’t afford” the level of support I needed.

That was my first big learning of this year.

I still had a terrible scarcity mindset.

In spite of all the things I’d done to work on it and the big leaps I’d made, blocks around money were ruining my chance for greater wealth and success (and as such, greater impact).

This is something I have completely transformed since I got back from that show in May. I thought I’d rewired my money mindset, but the truth was that I still was living in deep scarcity in my mind and I was making decisions from that place, which weren’t progressing my life or the impact I wanted to make on others.

My second learning was that I hadn’t truly healed from my experience of being raped.

Again, I thought this was something I’d already done, but I realised in the Play to Win Reality show that I really hadn’t. I hadn’t connected with the feeling of shame for being raped and I was still  feeling this in many areas of my life in the present day.

Both my scarcity mindset and my inability to feel the thing I have been most scared about (vulnerability) were stopping me from taking the massive action I needed to show up, which was the one thing missing between where I was and the income and impact I truly wanted to make.

And these learnings have paid me Iback dividends!

I’ve just come out of the best three months I have ever had earning wise  (I have tripled my income since May).

I’m now working with a Coach that charges more money than I currently own, but I’m ready. Something significant shifted in me. I realised that if nothing changes, nothing changes. We’ve got to go all in our goals, do what we haven’t done and go where we feel most fear to succeed. And if we aren’t willing to do that, write off the chance of success you seek. Or at the very least, know it will take you significantly longer, with significantly more frustration and lack to get to where you really want to be.

Actually investing to match the level I want to see change in my life is the only thing I hadn’t done to really hit my Big Audacious Hairy Ass Goals thus far. And my new Coach said something that really got me thinking… If we fear investing, surely that means we are assuming we are going to fail.  She’s right.

One month into my coaching, I am now ready to release my 8-week u_UNLEASHED program to help others unleash their inner potential to create more income and impact in their lives.

The program has everything you need (everything I lacked) to create, launch, scale and market an offering FAST  that impacts others and generates a sustainable and scalable income that gives you the freedom-based lifestyle your soul craves and your heart deserves.

I’ve done it. Now you can too. The programme is split across

– Superhuman Mindset & Performance coaching from my MyndDojo,

–  Strategy coaching for simplification, automation and scale,

– And Marketing coaching and strategy that makes you stand out from all the other cookie cutter crap you see on social media, so that your message and mission gets heard over all the other noise and you make the impact that is your Soul Goal.

A little mindset shift that will catapult your success!!!!

I am going to teach you a little perspective shift that has helped me MASSIVELY!

Do you get that “icky” feeling when it comes to spending money?

Do you say no to spending money on your own growth?

I’ll give you an example. I’m in a position where I need to put some investment into my business.  It is making me feel “icky” because I don’t know whether it is going to pay off.  I don’t know whether it is going to pay off because deep down I am still not behind myself 100%  I still carry limiting beliefs about my success, but they are massively reduced compared to this time 18 months ago because of the work I have done on myself.

You see, our internal condition, holds us back.

It affects us in numerous areas of our life where there is the opportunity to grow

  • The opportunity to start a new business
  • Investing in our wellness
  • Embracing a new opportunity.

I definitely felt exactly the same before I started my business!  However, at the same time we had other bills and I was finding the space on my credit card to pay them.

You know in the present day I don’t have to use a credit card because of my business.  It has pulled me out of the financial hole I was in and opened doors to so many opportunities.  My life is different because of it.  I am different because of it!  And only because I made the decision to invest in myself.

The thing that made me think about this was being in Specsavers today being told I need to wear glasses.  I was looking at the prices thinking “I could really do without this expense, but I need glasses and so, I’ll pay the money to get some.  The money was the same amount that I need to invest in my business and I didn’t get that same “icky feeling”.  What is the difference?

Our past experiences create baggage and garbage that blocks our future

And block our success.

If we don’t believe in ourselves to make something happen because of whatever reason we won’t invest cash.

If we don’t feel worthy of whatever that investment will bring us, we won’t invest the cash.

It might even be that we don’t believe in ourselves to be able to handle the kind of success that investment will create!  So we don’t invest the cash.

Think about it.  If I put my personal development course in front of you right now, or you were offered the chance to start your own business, or you were offered a way to get fit and healthy and whichever one of those things you chose cost a few hundred bucks.  What would stop you saying yes?

I am gonna guess… you are saying “I can’t afford it”.

OK, so now ask yourself, would you say yes if it was a water bill or a rates bill or school fees or a saving payment towards the annual family holiday?

Then honestly, ask yourself what is the difference.  It isn’t that you can’t afford it.  It is because you are prioritising other things over your own success.

And feeling “icky” is the body’s clever mechanism to make sure you continue doing that because the feeling is anchored in the memory of whatever caused your limiting belief in the first place.

So we come back to healing the internal condition for you to be able to grow.

And I promised to teach you the reframe that works for me and frees me from the limiting belief that prevents me GROWING!

It’s really simple.  I just think about the decision the future me would make.  I am in business, I want my business to be a success and so this is a need that needs to be satisfied.

I do the same thing when it comes to my personal development too now because I know that continuing to heal my internal condition is the only thing that will continue to free from the past experiences that held me back for too long.

Of course this requires having a strong vision of where you want to go.  What the future you looks like.

We work on vision in my free Manifestation Challenge.  That’s right, it’s absolutely free so you don’t have to spend anything to access it.  We start with setting your vision of your greatest life then I teach the 4 powerful keys you need to unlock your manifesting success.
